Martin D45 Custom Brazilian Rosewood
Martin D-45 brazilian rosewood (with CITES passport) and Engelmann spruce, Clean as a baby, not even a scratch in the finish build in 1994
Rare opportunity: A Martin D-45 Brazilian with CITES permit and in Near Mint condition. This is a Martin D-45 custom made in 1994, a rarity for the era that marks the beginning of the new 'Martin Golden Era'. A top notch Steel string guitar that is build in the tradition of the pre-war D-45 models, that will compete with every high end Martin guitar that they made over the last 20 years or so. First it's near mint condition and a truly amazing tone-machine. It looks and sounds amazing in every aspect, open, clear, big, balanced, rich and complex are only a few words describing this guitar.
This guitar features beautiful grained old growth Brazilian rosewood back and sides, with Martin Provenance certifying the wood was cut way before 1969, Engelmann spruce top, Mahogany neck, bound ebony fingerboard with Abalone snowflake position inlay, ivoroid bound headstock with Abalone Snowflake inlay, Ivoroid bound body sided with abalone trim on top, sides, along the heel, fingerboard extension, and on the back, ebony bridge with snowflake inlays.
What makes this guitar quite unique is the mix of Prewar and modern features, scalloped bracing and a standard X, the Engelmann spruce top, very similar to the 1941 authentic style, making this guitar extra ordinary from a tonal perspective. This guitar is overwhelming, powerful, but also controlled and beautiful at the same time, impressively open in the bass, and with a matured openness that most people used to newer guitars will have a hard time recognizing the sound. It's definitely capable of killing the loud banjo, but it also a great strummer, and being so responsive also to light touch, it is perfect for fingerstyle as well.
The guitar is signed 'CF Martin IV on the custom label' and is in near mint condition. The playability is really awesome with low action, and lots of saddle left to lower further. The guitar travels in the original Martin Case. The last quote I got from Martin for a OM-45 with Brazilian came with a list price of 61000$ (back in 2008) commission sale. The neck is a low profile C shape. If you are looking for a safer place to put your money in than the bank, this might be considered a fine opportunity.
